Absolute Label Services signed a service contract with Reef for the British rock band’s upcoming album.

Under the new agreement, Absolute will provide a range of services including distribution, marketing and project management.

Reef will release their new album, Shoot Me Your Ace, on April 15, 2022. The title track is now available and the LP is available for pre-order through the band’s online store.

The single was produced by Duran Duranis Andy Taylor. Taylor also joins the group as an honorary guitarist, alongside new drummer Luke Bullen, formerly of Joe Strummer’s band The Mescaleros.

Reef formed in 1993 and released nine Top 40 singles and four studio albums through 2000, including the No.1 Glow, platinum record in 1996 (357,901 sales – Official Charts Company). A most successful album, Together, was released in 2003.

The group broke up in 2003, but then reformed after reuniting for a short tour. In 2014, Jesse Wood, formerly of the group Ronnie Wood / Faces / Red Racer, replaced original guitarist Kenwyn House after leaving the group amicably to pursue other projects.

Absolute also supported the release of the Reef 2018 album Revelation via EarMusic.

Reef has nearly 400,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, with Place Your Hands having over 35 million streams on the platform.

The band will begin a UK tour of the album in April 2022.

Doctor Absolu Henry Semmence said, “After a period of lockdown, it’s great to start coming out on the other side and releasing some great albums – and it’s a great album. Very proud to be involved with this great group as they move forward and head into 2022 with dates, new music and festivals booked.

Reef manager Seven Webster of 7pm Management said: “We were looking for the best way to release Reef’s new album and received a number of offers from extremely enthusiastic labels. But, like getting married, it’s about finding the right partner. All in the team, Reef felt that release with Absolute as a distribution partner, without unnecessarily ceding the rights to the band, it was the best deal in town and other than that the Absolute team are a joy to work with.
