Critics, charts and even former President Barack Obama have weighed in on their picks for this year’s song of the summer, with Harry Styles’ “As It Was”, Beyonce’s “Break My Soul”, hit by Kate Bush’s 1985 “Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)” and several Bad Bunny songs, all top contenders.
Billboard 2022 Songs of the Summer Chart-who tracks the commercial success of songs from Memorial Day to Labor Day – was led by “As It Was” for all eight weeks, as the track sat near the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for months.

Bad Bunny’s new album A Verano Sin Ti exceeded the Billboard 200 for seven weeks, while “As It Was” topped the Billboard Hot 100 for 10 weeks since its release in April. “Break My Soul” peaked at No. 6 on the Hot 100, but that should change now that Beyoncé’s album Renaissance came out last week. The contenders for last years song of the summer included “Good 4 U” by Olivia Rodrigo, “Butter” by BTS and “Levitating” by Dua Lipa.
