Chapel Hart Wins a Golden Buzzer on “America’s Got Talent”

Sofia Vergara, Heidi Klum, Simon Cowell and Howie Mandel were greeted with great flair on Tuesday’s (July 19) episode of America has talent, but perhaps no other act has left them more in awe than country trio Chapel Hart.

Mississippi-based sister group Danica and Devynn Hart and their first cousin, Trea Swindle, have conquered the AGT panel and live studio audience with their audition of an original song called “You Can Have Him, Jolene”.

The song is a variation of Dolly Parton’s 1973 hit, “Jolene,” about a woman who begs another not to take her man. Chapel Hart’s tune, which earned them an expedited stage invite to the show, rather ended the ill-fated romance with the hook,”You can have it, Jolene.”

“We were so inspired by the song ‘Jolene.’ We love the script,” Chapel Hart’s Danica told the judges. “We thought, though, from 1973 to 2022, we can’t fight for the same man again.”

“I love them already,” Klum quipped before the music started.

Once Chapel Hart began singing the lyrics to their song and dancing on stage, the room filled with energy – the crowd’s excitement turned into epic cheers. At the end of the performance, Chapel Hart not only got an encore, but people were singing for the judges to hit the Golden Buzzer.

“Oh my God. Trust me. I needed you today,” Cowell said, smiling after the audition. “It was fantastic! I love the choreography happening around you. I mean, it was awesome.

“Your joy is contagious, and everything you give is received here, and I love it!” Klum added.

Cowell and Klum also admitted that they respectively would have hit the Golden Buzzer had they not already used it on other acts.

“We’ve been trying to break into Nashville for the past two years, but it’s been pretty tough,” Danica noted of what the trio have been up to musically so far. “Country music doesn’t always sound like us.”

“First of all, maybe you just kicked down that door with this song,” Mandel told Chapel Hart, before Vergara called the song and the band’s energy “perfect.” “I love this song. I love the energy. I love the look. You say country music doesn’t sound like you. This is your win, because you’re gonna be the original.

After the four judges shared their comments, AGT host Terry Crews went to the jury to have a “huddle” with his comrades. That’s when the celebrity cast unanimously slammed the Golden Buzzer, sending Chapel Hart into the live shows to perform for the American votes.

The moment brought Chapel Hart to tears as confetti fell from the ceiling.

Other performers who took the stage during the show included singers, dancers, magicians, a saxophonist dressed as a firefighter and more. America’s Got Talent live broadcasts are scheduled to begin August 9 on NBC.
