Indigo De Souza performed at Music Hall in Williamsburg with Horse Jumper of Love & Friendship (photos, setlist)

Indigo De Souza was forced to postpone a series of East Coast shows scheduled for January due to the pandemic. They moved to April and she’s in their midst now, having headlined two nights at Music Hall in Williamsburg on Thursday and Sunday (4/21 and 4/24). We attended the Sunday night show, where songs from Indigo’s excellent 2021 album Any form you take received as enthusiastic a reception as its older material. She delivered it all with her soaring, unearthly voice, which never seems to reach its limit, spiraling through the ether on songs like “Real Pain” and “17.”

Love Jumper Horsewhich preceded Indigo, included songs from their new album for Run for Cover, natural part, in their set, and received a warm welcome from the crowd. Recent Merger Signatories Friendship opened the night, and even though they were without their pedal steel player, they still delivered a solid set of emotive indie folk, including recent single “Ugly Little Victory.”

See photos from the entire night, including one from Indigo’s setlist, below.

Indigo will return to the New York area on their fall tour, which includes shows at Webster Hall on September 29 and Asbury Lanes September 27both with Vundabar. Horse Jumper of Love will be back even sooner, for a headlining show at Baby is fine May 17th with weak little horse.
