On the inspiration behind his new album, Max B shares, “When I made this album, it was at a time when I didn’t intend to make music. So I had to dig deep for the content. My inspiration came from my incarceration. When the slaves worked in the plantations, they invented these harmonies, these melodies and this gospel and they sang through their oppression.
“‘Negro Spirituals’ is like a passion project for me, it’s ‘strictly dedicated to true Max B fans’, those who rode with me from the start and were expecting a solo Don project with little to no features. You’ll hear French and Giggs and I’ll just give you all these ‘Negro Spiritual’ waves, and honestly there’s nothing spiritual about it. You’re all going to love this. I can tell you all about it. , it’s Max in “rare form” and I don’t think there is anything like it… And I say that without ego, it could be my best job yet.
Last August, Max B revealed two more tracks from the project, “Revolution” and “75 In The Can”.
