Mykki Blanco Announces New Album ‘Stay Close To Music’ | New

Slated for an October 14 release via Transgressive, Mykki Blanco has announced her new album “Stay Close To Music.”

Sharing debut single “French Lessons” with Kelsey Lu alongside the news, Mykki says, “The song is a reflection on the possibility of true love, on the idea that we can truly experience what we see in Hollywood movies,” Mykki reveals. “The song is also this sort of ode to Lou Reed. I’m not what I would consider a singer at all, I’m a talking singer, so I look at people in the story who have the same style: Tom Petty, Jonathan Richmond of Modern Lovers, Lou Reed – they’re all INCREDIBLES’ singers speak and I feel comfortable in that style vocally. The song was originally composed by FaltyDL and it encapsulated so much of the sound of what I was trying to articulate with my own music. FaltyDL has a way of approaching the spiritual intricacies of life. He is somehow able to create mystery out of the mundane, create tranquility and fill a room with zen vibes, something unnamable and yet so familiar.

“Kelsey Lu, I’m sure he will become one of the legendary artists of my generation,” they add. “A classically trained virtuoso with a voice that sounds like a bell ringing for the first time, like something out of a Greek odyssey. I’ve been a big Kelseys fan for a long time and collaborating with her on this song was a very special moment for me and FaltyDL.
