Since Sora from the Kingdom Hearts series was revealed as the last DLC fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, fans referred to the theme song “Simple and Clean”. He is portrayed by Utada Hikaru has been heard in several Kingdom Hearts games over the years.
Sadly, he didn’t make it into Smash Bros. Ultimate – but Alexandre Treviso and the Zelda Dungeon team have found a way to honor him with their ongoing project which is now finally complete.
Aside from Piranha Plant, none of the DLC characters get custom dialogue when activating Palutena’s Hints on Palutena’s Temple level in Smash Ultimate, so that’s the goal here – swapping the generic conversation with personalized dialogue for each DLC fighter.
As much as we would have loved to see this Kingdom Hearts (also known as Hikari) track in-game, it looks like this unofficial track is as good as it gets. The only other alternative was Sora’s revelation, as Kotaku pointed out:
“In Sora’s reveal clip for Smash Bros. Ultimate, an orchestral interpretation of “Simple and Clean” by Hikaru Utada played in the background. “
While we won’t hear this song in Smash, there are still nine other new tracks to enjoy if you purchased the second Fighters Pass or Sora as a standalone purchase.
After downloading Challenger Pack 11, players will also receive nine music tracks from the KINGDOM HEARTS series. An additional music track, Dearly Beloved -Swing Version, will be added to this game for those who have played KINGDOM HEARTS Melody of Memory.
The Kingdom Hearts series is also coming to Nintendo Switch as a cloud version, so newcomers and returning fans will be able to hear the famous track again in the near future.
